"I reiterate "Who cares what their real lives are? Last time I checked L-Word was a fictional series, no?Glad someone realizes the difference between fact and fiction. And who cares anyone. Each of us is what we are. Gay straight_bi, trans, etc etc etc. I understand this is a forum for expression and sharing thoughts, but, did anyone ever stop to think that maybe just maybe JB might read some of this. I'm sure it's amusing to her that so much effort is spent on her. KUDOS to her acting ability!!! She's got everyone fooled and no one will ever know for sure. 3 out of 6 found this valuable. "Here's the scoop.................she should get an emmy for her acting, because she has convinced me that she enjoys women very much on a intimate and sexual level. Now can you honestly see a straight man in a movie like this only it is all gay men, and they are really straight, and they make it so convincing that they enjoy making love to a man when they are truely straight!..........I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!! So in my opinion, she maybe straight, but if it wasnt so difficult to be a lesbian in our society and have children, I think she and alot of people for that matter would go both ways, if they call themselves straight."Hi SUMMERdd. Men are totally different!! Let me use my friend (natosha32) expression they can't just dib and dab and call themselves straight after that obviously. Men biology is totally different from women. Women can easily get away with it for the simple fact that they are naturally emotional beings - loving caring, affectionate etc etc ya. Now then, it is not a big deal for 2 women to be close. One of the great things of being women is that we are spoiled for choice if we need help or advice or even company for that matter. You can talk to your mam, your sister, your best friend, your auntie, your cousin, the lady next door etc etc. So my dear, tibette can kick it and wipe their hands clean......... you know what I mean lol.....lol..... lol. They are acting and we are loving it. Aren't they lucky? Do you find this valuable? |

I am sorry but no totally straight person would take the role of a lesbian and without not having some prior experience with a woman... People don't tell you everything. My opinion is that Jennifer definitley has lesbian tendences, but her family comes first. that does't mean that she doesn't like women, that just means she is in hollywood and has a family and doesn't want parts of her life exposed...duh!!! no one can act that convincing, come on people...5 out of 7 found this valuable. Jennifer Beals does do a great job of acting the part of Bette Porter (a Lesbian), but as to whether she does swing that way, or not, it is her private business and how ever much we all fantasize about, what it would be like if she was gay, this is something that we will probably never know.However, to quote from some of the other replies, she does know a lot and seems to be pretty experienced in her role and I just don't buy it that she hasn't dipped in the honey pot before. There is just too much chemistry between her and Laurel Holloman and we all know that Laurel has been with a woman before. Still I bet we are all probably wrong and if Jennifer does read our comments, then she is either laughing at the thought, or on the other hand she could be offended. If the latter, then I apologise Miss Beals, as I am a massive fan and respect your privacy. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Having lesbian tendences doesn't make you a lesbian..... does it? You can fancy many beautiful faces, bodies and souls around you does that make you a slut!!!! They are still thoughts and feelings not acted upon or pursued. Unless you act upon them and declare them openly. If you read about JB or watched her movies her interviews or anything related to her you will clearly understand that JB is not an ounce typical hollywood type. This is part of how an amazing human being & actress she is. She is a Yale graduate for crying out loud. How many well known actor/ actress is as such apart from the X File guy and Jodie Foster. I heard of non so far......She always mentions that she wants to live her life as authentically as she can. Meaning, she wants to live as truthfully as she can. Acting plays a greater part of her life i.e, her profession. Therefore, for her to play a role of a lesbian convencingly is part and parcel of her core in conveying the message/the truth of the life of an under-represented group of our society. Yes no one could act like that convincingly.....Jennifer could and she..............did. Because she is awesome. Why do you think she has few and between movies although she is a brilliant actress. Because she is for real and hollywood doesn't look for genuienty but for fuckups da da.

I have been a lesbian all my life, and the emotions that she portrays as her character are so sensitive, and so truthful. that -- she is an incredible woman. With all the sex scenes in the episodes-- I was so turned on bt her slow sance with Laurel Holloman in the last episode. They were on the dance floor at the" Les girls" launching party. The sensuality between the two was more sensual than anything I have seen in 5 seasons. They belong together somehow! Wow! what stunning casting! Trust me-- I up and down the emotions of loving, being, leaving,having, not having, and finally 22 years of loving someone with my gut, heart, and soul...not many have that something that is ever so wonderful and right. Together they so. I applaud them... 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Her dance with Laurel Holloman at the end of the 5th season(At the :Les Girls goodby party) was the most sensual scene in the entire season. If she is not bi-- who ever casted her for Laurel's signjficant other did an ourstanding job. Together they reveal what the majority of the world soes not feel in any kind of relationship. The director IC is extremely lucky to have found the chemistry between JB/LH is already there. Astrologicly speaking, JB (Dec19 -Sagittarius), LH (May 23- Gemini). According to astrology Sagittarius is a perfect love match for Gemini and the vice versa. Just like say Scorpio/Taurus, Virgo/Pisces and Cancer/Capricon etc. So the fire & energy between those 2 is naturally enhanced.........There ain't no coincedences........... OMG you are all right Jennifer Beals is a fantastic actress and she found another great actress in Laurel Holloman and they compliment each other perfectly in The L Word. They both so deserve an Emmy or some sort of Award.

Jennifer Beals is straight. She honors the choices of LGBTQ community and portrays us with grace and dignity. She is also a tireless advocate that works to end oppression of any kind. We are lucky to have her as an ambassador, advocate, friend and voice. She is definitely heterosexual. Insofar as she honors our relationships, this board should and I believe will honor hers. She is a woman, daughter, mother, sister, and wife to a man who writes "I love you" with rose petals when she has a bad day. Best to both of them.

When she teams up with Laurel Holloman --it's an automatic take. I see the beauty of the world in her moves, and her expressions. She works with her soul in the L word. I feel that if she is straight, the internal love that lives in her, and has been mastered in her ultimate frame of thoughts is easy to transfer to Laurel. And vise versa. What ever lifestyles they live in the real world,--here they are the truest kind of lovers I have ever seen. And I have lived in the Gay world for quite a while. I feel that it's possible that Bett does love Laurel very much in real life, however it takes time to sink in. And then what??? Both of them go back to their real worlds, until they miss what really happened. Next season they will be happy to love each other as a gay couple. Won't they? The woman is magnificant! She isa lover at heart. I like the mix of Jennifer and Laurel together. Two wonderful women with that kind of sensualality is a plus in gay life. If nothing is going on for real, Give them a standing ovation for ten straight minutes. They deserve it! Give that to them either way! Can't you see the love in both of them? Stop asking! Start admiring them for the message they are sending you!
